
Go Girls!is a 7-week mentoring program that provides adolescent girls with the information and support to make informed lifestyle choices while maintaining sensitivity toward their emotional, social and cutural issues. The program matches groups of girls in grade 7 and grade 8 with women aged 18-25 who act as their mentors. The mentors assist them in enhancing their self-confidence, self-esteem, and their knowledge about a healthy lifestyle; with an emphasis physical activity, healthy eating, and positive self-image.  You can be a Go Girls! mentor if you are: - Between the ages of 18 and 25
- Enthusiastic, caring and dependable!
- Passionate about eating healthy and living a balanced lifestyle!
- Interested in helping young girls build their self-esteem.
As a volunteer in the Go Girls! program you will: - Receive training to teach seven 1.5 - 2 hour sessions in a school setting
- Work with another mentor to facilitate with a group of up to 8 girls
- Plan and prepare session materials and great Go Girls activities
- Maintain contact with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of West Island for ongoing support and assistance
- Help young girls to learn wonderful things about themselves they did not even know and
- Maybe learn something about yourself as well!
The screening process consists of: - An office interview
- 3 references (character, employer/volunteer, family)
- A police check
- A child safety training
