Who can participate in this program?
Couples wishing to be part of the program should be at least 20 years of age and have been together for at least one year. Both partners should be committed to volunteering and be prepared to spend a few hours each week or every other week with their Little Brother or Little Sister. This program is structured and followed in the same manner as our Big Brother and Big Sister program.
How will the child benefit from being matched with a couple?
Some children in our program benefit from the special friendship of a Couple Match. Being matched with a couple, (rather than just one adult), has been shown to benefit the child immensely by exposing him or her to a caring, respectful adult relationship.
The screening process consists of:
- An office interview
- 3 references (character, employer/volunteer, family)
- A police check
- A home interview
- A child safety training
